These are two short, experimental films that focus on the Hong Kong-based multidisciplinary studio Batten and Kamp. Much more than expository, documentary-style pieces, the films weave a dream-like narrative as they peer into the lives of studio founders Alexandra Batten and Daniel Kamp, and their existence as artists, as partners, and as inhabitants of a dense, strange city. They affectionately depict the pair’s everyday determination to live out as holistically creative a life as possible, while simultaneously crafting a love letter to the city of Hong Kong.
The films premiered at the third Batten and Kamp Open Studio on September 11-12, 2021.
